Dongguan is located in the heart of the Pearl River Delta and is a key node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Historically an important birthplace of Lingnan culture, it is also a globally renowned manufacturing base.
Cultural attractions: Ke Yuan Garden (one of Guangdong's four most famous gardens, a masterpiece of Lingnan garden design), Nanshe Ancient Village (an 800-year-old Lingnan water town with nearly 200 well-preserved Ming and Qing buildings), Opium War Museum (site of Lin Zexu's opium destruction in Humen), and Songshan Lake (an eco-scenic area combined with a tech park).
Dongguan's cuisine is primarily Cantonese, with local snacks like Daojiao meatball congee and Houjie roast goose laifen noodles worth trying.
