Xiamen comprises Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, and numerous smaller islets, forming a picturesque "Garden on the Sea." In 2017, "Gulangyu: International Settlement" was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island preserves a remarkable collection of diverse international architecture from the modern era, earning it the title "Exhibition of International Architecture." The Nanputuo Temple, dating to the Tang Dynasty, is a sacred Buddhist site in Southern Fujian. The Island Ring Road offers scenic coastal views, connecting attractions like Zengcuo'an and the coconut palm-lined breeze pavilions. The Jimei School Village, founded by the patriotic overseas Chinese leader Tan Kah Kee, features a unique Sino-Western architectural style known as "Kah Kee Architecture."
